Vaive arrived in Buffalo via a trade with the Blackhawks on December 26, 1988 and Buffalo would prove to be the final stop of his NHL career. In 189 games spread across three seasons with the Sabres, Vaive would score 72 goals and add 62 assists.
This jersey was worn during the 1988/89 season - Vaive's first with Buffalo. When he was first traded to the Sabres he wore #12 as long time Sabre Lindy Ruff wore #22. When Ruff was later traded to the New York Rangers Vaive used the opportunity to switch to the number that he wore while with the Leafs. The wear on this jersey consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes and inner pilling. In addition, the left wrist has been opened up at the seam.
